Azan program in depth
Before using the Azan Application
- You must select your location/settings correctly. If your selection is incorrect, your prayer time will be incorrect.
- Update location option one:
Select automatic (Options | Location | Automatic) if we want to get the location automatically, this will bring your Country and City with your location information automatically, you don't need to insert by yourself. Azan program knows where you are in the world. - Update location option two:
Get your latitude and longitude from this link. - Select Options location and Insert. Insert following string "country city latitude longitude" for example my location is Dhaka, Bangladesh and I insert this "Bangladesh Dhaka 23.5237 90.4394"
- After this go to setting view and select the fields that match to prayer time for example if you have wrong Aser ratio then asor prayer time can be different than your faith.
- You can use many other features of this application, just browse around and ask from hemelix if not clear.
- If you notice still there are some differences then please insert those minutes in Corrections in Minutes (Settings | Correction in Minutes). If you have any questions please ask from hemelix.
1. HemeAzan5 (Athan, Salah): For Nokia S60 5th edition devices (N97, N97 Mini, Nokia 5230, Nokia 5800 XpressMusic, Nokia C6-00, Nokia X6 etc). This has included magnetic compass feature (for N97 & N97 Mini) by this you can find Kiblah direction directly just like magnetic compass. So if you have N97 or N97 mini please use this version.
2. Athan (Azan, Adhan):
This version works for all 3rd and 5th edition devices. In this version there is no magnetic compass implemented. All other features are same like HemeAzan5. So if you use N97 or N97 Mini then please use HemeAzan5.
Azan Introduction:
Muslims are supposed to perform five prayers every day. Each prayer is given a certain prescribed time in which it must be performed.
5 prayer times
Fajr:
When the sky begins to lighten, some time before the sun itself appears.
Dhuhr:
When the sun appears the highest in the sky during its journey from sunrise to sunset.
Asr:
The time when the length of any object's shadow equals the length (or twice the length) of the object itself plus the length of that object's shadow at noon.
Maghrib:
Soon after the sunset.
Isha:
The time at which darkness falls and there is no scattered light in the sky.
We have designed the Azan by considering most common requirements of Muslim around the world.
Most common and useful properties of Azan from Hemelix are:
- It shows location and current time in the main view
- Next prayer time in red text, it alert you when to pray, automatically it is updated after each prayer time
- It shows the name of Allah in the main view with meaning of it
- Manually you can play and stop azan if you like.
- Direction: Direction menu item shows a compass and Kaba Sharif direction by an arrow line from the center of compass. It will shows the direction from East or west and mentioned the angle in degree. It will draw Kaba Sharif's image on the top of arrow.
- You have all the necessary settings for Azan as described below
- Calculation methods
- Keep off time Active: play all azan usually
- Volume can be adjusted from 0 to 10, 0 means off and 1 means lowest volume
- Day light saving, Yes if the phone's time does not consider day light saving automatically, normally keep it no
- Day light saving date, 29/03to25/10, put it in this format.Meaning of this is daylight saving is ON during march 29th to October 25th in each year
- Correction in minutes, if all these default does not give expected result you can put offset time here. For example 5 will add 5 minutes to calculated method and -5 will substract 5 minutes from calculated method
- Aser ratio, Hanafi or Shafi, change this one to other if the asor prayer time is different than you expect.
- Hide Azan To background: Hide the azan program to background after 2 minutes from the last use (You can open it again by pressing the application or by pressing menu for long time via swap window)

Finding Kiblah direction (in which direction you have to pray).
Option One by your Magnetic Compass enabled phone (N97 and N97 mini works with HemeAzan5):
Select Options | Direction
Select Magnetometer
Move the device around and see the top text changes from "Move phone around" to "Accuracy best"
Put the phone on floor and see your kiblah direction on the screen
Option Two by your GPS enabled phone:
Following text shows the meaning and usages of menu item in this view.By this you can find a direction when you move with your GPS enabled phone. If you have GPS available in your phone then you can use this option. If you press this menu then it will start to communicate with GPS system and it will draw a red arrow in the direction you walk. You need to walk 150 meters. Select the GPS and wait in the same place and see that a triangle is drawn. After this walk 150 meters. As you walk, a red line is drawn on the screen, this red line shows you in which direction you walk.
While you walk the arrow becomes bigger and it is draw from the center to outward direction. It will print the direction to which you are walking. It will shows also angle between Kaba Sharif and the direction you are walking. It will guide you on the screen how many meters left to be 150 meters. Once you have walked 150 meters it will stop and save the data itself. You can put your phone in such a way that newly drawn red line is parallel to the path you walk and then you can find exact direction in which you have to pray. This will be shown by the Kiblah direction already drawn on the screen.

The red line indicate a line from a point when find direction was pressed to a point which is 150 meters away from start point. The 4th line of text in user interface shows the angle between this line and Kaba Sharif direction. This feature can be used to find direction in unknown place and find Kaba Sharif direction.
Find direction by Magnetometer:
This feature is available only for N97 and N97 mini model. Select this option and it will draw a compass on the screen. Move the phone around untill you get the accuracy best. Put the phone on the floor and see which is north and which is Kiblah direction.
Map:
This will show a map on your screen, your location and Kaba Sharif.

Exclude Fajor: Fajor azan will not be played
Exclude Fajor & Office time: Fajor azan and azan during office hour (08:00 to 16:00) will not be played
Keep off: Keep off totally, azan will not be played at all but it will show the time
Not in SwapWindow: Remove the azan program to background after 2 minutes from the last use and from swap window
Usual: Keep it on top as usual
Select the currently high lighted location, it will shows mark on the right side. To select new location press up or down arrow. Tick mark will move to new selected location. Longitude and latitude of each location are not shown in the user interface but those are hidden to user.
Location Insert:
New location can be added to system with the following format, country name space city space latitude space longitude. If this format is not followed, it will show an error message. The new location will be selected automatically and it will be added accoding to name in alphbetically.Previous location will be un selected.
Location Automatic:
You can select the automatic feature this will add your country and city automatically and that will be selected. Phone will try to find your country and city and that will be added to the list and it will be selected.
Delete location:
Delete the selected location, next item or previous item will be selected automatically, to get correct prayer time you need to select right one.
